Cost of Living

In addition to wonderful weather, and cultural and recreational opportunities, you may be concerned about living costs in Florida.

The Florida Price Level Index is calculated by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida.   It is an index of the relative costs of goods and services and compares all counties in Florida.  The population weighted average is 100.  The 43 counties with indexes below 98 together account for less than 18% of the state’s population.   Index values tend to be higher in the southern portion of the state. For example, Collier County’s value is 107.01.  The cost of living in Collier County is 7.01% higher than the statewide average.
