St. Johns County has been home to smart, sustainable development for hundreds of years. At the heart is St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, founded in 1565. Choose from full service restaurants to quaint little cafes in the historic district, there are many venues that offer live music as you dine. You can also hear live music in the various clubs and nightspots located on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Whatever your taste, the St Augustine live music scene has it to offer to you. The City of St. Augustine annually presents its summer Concerts in the Park Series. These are held in the Plaza downtown on Thursday evenings and plays host to local bands, as well as the odd out of town band or two.

Arts & Culture

The St. Augustine art scene is always bustling. The city hosts tons of live music and is home to theater and film organizations, as well as dozens of art galleries and the first Friday Art Walk. Flagler College frequently hosts gallery openings, welcoming the public in to see work exhibited by the fine art students. The area has a very wide and varied music scene. Many kinds of music can be heard live here. From country and western to rhythm and blues to jazz, rock, folk, bluegrass, classical, you name it, it's here. Live bands can be heard at numerous venues dotted around downtown St. Augustine and Anastasia Island.

First Friday Art Walks are held on the first Friday of every month. All galleries open their doors, offering free drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Live music dots the walk, as well. Fine art is always available in St. Augustine. Fine art galleries all over town will always welcome the browser and the buyer.

Parks & Recreation

St. John’s County Parks & Recreation offers over 100 locations and 4500 acres of parkland along with the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, St. Johns County Fairgrounds, St. Augustine Beach Pier, and St. Johns Golf Club. You’ll find a host of events and activities that can provide memorable moments in your lives. 

At Anastasia State Park you can enjoy camping, nature trails, beach time, water sports, and an archaeological site where coquina rock was mined to create the nearby fortress, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Anastasia State Park, located just south of historic St. Augustine on Anastasia Island, has 4 miles of pristine beach, a tidal salt marsh, and maritime and upland hammock.

Camping, beachcombing, swimming, fishing, picnicking, windsurfing, hiking, wildlife-viewing, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities. Nature trails meander through the ancient dunes shaded by hammock forest. The full-facility campground is located in a wooded area within easy bicycling or walking distance of the beach. You can rent bicycles, beach chairs, ocean toys and umbrellas, canoes, sailboards, paddleboats, and kayaks.

With over 42 miles of scenic coastline, St. Johns County beaches offer some of the best recreational and wildlife viewing opportunities in the beautiful State of Florida. Just minutes from the historic district of downtown St. Augustine residents can park off-beach and walk, sunbathe, fish or enjoy wildlife viewing along endless miles of pristine coastline or park directly on the sand and enjoy a dip in the surf near one of the several staffed lifeguard towers.

Golf

There are over a dozen public, semi-private and private courses in St. Johns County, some of which are world-acclaimed, luring golfers of every ability. The multi-faceted resort community of the World Golf Village, with its centerpiece World Golf Hall of Fame, calls the county home. The PGA TOUR is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach and draws world wide attention with the annual Tournament Players Championship (TPC) at Sawgrass. The annual Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Tournament is also played in St. Johns County. Whatever level of skill, you will find inspiration by the professional golfers who have played the courses here and continue to do so with every passing year.

St. Johns Golf Club, a county course, has 27 championship holes for players of all ages and skills. The course is set among towering pines with numerous

Antiquing couldn’t be better than in St. Augustine, the oldest city in America. Saint Augustine

St. Augustine's rich history and cultural diversity have helped shaped a dynamic city for both residents and visitors alike. It’s unique mix of both the Old and the New is what beckons visitors to come explore and is what has brought them back to make St. Augustine their home.
